East Peak via Railroad Grade

Another Marin classic, this ride climbs the dirt on Mt. Tam’s Railroad Grade to the East Peak of Mt. Tamalpais. From here it’s a paved descent back to Mill Valley and Sausalito with numerous options to extend the route over hill and dale.

This ride offers beautiful vistas of the San Francisco Bay Area and north into Sonoma county as it winds its way through redwood groves along the flanks of Mt. Tam.

This is an advanced gravel /dirt ride and not recommended for inexperienced riders.

Distance: 28 miles (+) • Difficulty – Advanced Advanced difficulty rating due to its sustained dirt climb and twisty mountain descents. Should comfortable riding on dirt and climbing and descending windy mountain and country roads.
